Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to provide our features:
Supabase
Database and file storage for your entries, photos, and account data.
OpenAI
Powers AI chat (GPT-4), voice transcription (Whisper), and text-to-speech. Your conversations are sent to OpenAI for processing but are not used to train their models.
Google Cloud
Provides text-to-speech in multiple languages and Gemini AI for live voice features.
Apple Push Notifications
Delivers meal reminders and activity notifications to your device.
How We Share Your Information
Based on Your Visibility Settings
- Private: Only you can see your entries
- Family: Only your family group members can see
- Public: Anyone can see your entries
We Do NOT
- Sell your personal data to third parties
- Share your data for advertising purposes
- Use your data to train AI models

- With service providers who help operate the app

Your Privacy Controls
- Hide location on individual posts
- Set default visibility (Private/Family/Public)
- Hide food dislikes from family members
- Block other users
- Control who can message you
- Export all your data
- Delete your account and all data
Location Information
Eatnote may collect location data in two ways:
- From photo EXIF metadata (embedded GPS coordinates)
- From your device's GPS (when you grant permission)
You can:
- Disable location services in iOS Settings
- Hide location on individual entries
- Set default to not show location
Voice & AI Data
Voice Input
When you use voice features, audio is sent to OpenAI or Google for transcription. We do not store raw audio files after transcription is complete.
AI Conversations
Your AI chat history is stored to provide context and improve responses. You can delete your chat history at any time.
Data Retention
- Your data is retained while your account is active
- Deleted entries are removed from our servers
- Account deletion removes all your data permanently
- Backups may retain data for up to 30 days
Data Security
- All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Data is stored securely on Supabase servers
- We use industry-standard security practices
- Access to user data is strictly limited
Children's Privacy
Eatnote is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last Updated" date.
