Eatnote ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account Information: Email address, display name, and profile photo when you create an account.
- Food Entries: Photos, notes, ratings, tags, and location data you add to your food journal.
- Family Groups: Information about family groups you create or join.
- Messages: Direct messages you send to other users.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, and app version.
- Usage Data: How you interact with the app (features used, time spent).
- Location Data: Only when you choose to add location to entries, and can be disabled anytime.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the Eatnote service
- To enable family sharing and social features
- To power AI Buddy features (your data is not used to train AI models)
- To send you important updates about the service
- To improve and personalize your experience
AI Features & Your Data
Eatnote uses third-party AI services (OpenAI and Google) to power the AI Buddy feature. When you use AI Buddy:
- Data shared: Your text messages, voice recordings (for transcription), and food entry context are sent to these AI providers to generate responses
- Not used for training: Your data is not used to train AI models. We use API configurations that disable training on your data
- Processing only: Your data is processed only to provide responses and is not stored by the AI providers beyond what is needed to complete your request
- You can delete your AI conversation history at any time
- AI features are optional and can be disabled in settings
- You will be asked for consent before using AI features for the first time
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only:
- With family members you've explicitly connected with
- With users who can see your public posts (if you choose to share publicly)
- With service providers who help us operate the app (hosting, analytics)
- When required by law or to protect safety
Data Storage & Security
- Your data is stored securely on Supabase servers
- We use encryption for data in transit and at rest
- Photos are stored in secure cloud storage
- We implement industry-standard security practices
Your Privacy Controls
You have control over your data:
- Visibility Settings: Choose Private, Family, or Public for each entry
- Location: Add or hide location data per entry
- Blocking: Block users who you don't want to interact with
- Delete Account: Delete your account and all associated data anytime
Data Deletion
You can delete your data at any time:
- Individual Entries: Delete any entry from your log
- Chat History: Delete conversations
- Full Account: Go to Settings → Privacy → Delete All My Data
When you delete your account, all your data (entries, photos, messages, profile) is permanently and immediately removed.
Children's Privacy
Eatnote is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Family sharing features are designed for family members of all ages under parental supervision.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email.
